Silver for Alan Campbell at the 2009 World Rowing Championships
Alan finished less than a second behind fellow club member Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand, with both scullers breaking the world record time.
Alan's silver medal is only the second-ever for a British sculler - the first was won in 1962 - and the first men's singles medal since 1997.

GB Selection
Congratulations to Elaine Johnstone, who has just been selected as the Great Britain women's lightweight single scull for the forthcoming World Championships, to be held at Poznan in Poland from 23rd to 30th August.
This is Elaine's first GB vest; she was initially named as the women's lightweight sculling spare, but her performance at the pre-Worlds training camp in Italy saw her promoted to a racing slot.
Elaine will be joined in Poznan by Alan Campbell, who will race in the men's heavyweight single. This will be Alan's fourth appearance at the World Championships: he raced in the quad at Gifu in 2005, before moving to the single for Eton (2006) and Munich (2007).
Deal and Peterborough
A small group of club members headed to the coast to race at Deal Regatta, in coastal boats and the colours of the home club. The day brought two wins for Katy Smith: in women's novice fours and also ladies' singles.
At Peterborough, James and Thomas from the junior men's group won Intermediate 3 coxed fours in a composite with Peterborough City. A few members of the men's squad also raced, and recorded several second places.
2009-2010 Season
The kick-off meeting for the 2009-2010 season will be at TSS on Saturday 12th September, at a provisional time of 10am.
Those wishing to trial for Great Britain this season, and who are not attending the 2009 World or European Championships, should contact the chief coach directly - chiefcoach@tidewayscullers.com. Training for triallists will commence at the start of September.
Wargrave and Shiplake
Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta dates from 1867, but the 2009 regatta saw the inauguration of a Ladies Double Sculling Skiff Race, which was duly won by Pauline Bird and Rebecca Caroe.
The duo raced five rounds, the last four of which were quite close, and won the final by a few feet over a double from Henley RC's women's squad.
