BR Masters Championships

An intrepid group went to the British Rowing Masters Championships to race in some very windy conditions at Nottingham.

In Saturday's championship events, Pauline Peel, racing with Wallingford's Julia Wilks, took silver in women's E doubles; there was also silver for Jo Al-Janabi, Kathryn Hickmott, Katie Robins and Kasia Lawrence in E quads, and for siblings Mark Alloway and Ruth Bradbury (Parr's Priory) in mixed F doubles.

Racing in non-championship D-F eights, Gareth Newton, Ben Bridger and Jamie Priestley won the band 1 race in a composite with Tyne.

Unfortunately, racing was cancelled at the end of division 1, but not before the hard-fought straight final of women's F eights, in which the TSS/Henley/Mortlake/Walbrook composite with Rosemary Thom on board took gold by just 0.54 seconds over the TSS/Barnes Bridge Ladies/Thames/Kingston crew.
