Veteran Women
The Veteran Women’s Squad is a recently formed, and rapidly expanding, group that seeks to cater for veteran women (31+) intending to compete at local, national and international veteran events.
The aim of the group is to allow each member to achieve the most they can within the sport, but to also be aware of the many other demands upon our time. The group is ideal for those who want to train and race seriously, but who don’t wish to train with the Women’s Squad.
Training
The squad aims to meet at 9am on Sundays, and trains at other times by arrangement. A training programme is available.
Most of the water sessions are in sculling boats and all members of the squad are competent single scullers. Many own their own singles, but club equipment is available.
Racing
Veteran Women compete all year round: in the 2008-09 season the squad raced at various head races, including the Vet Fours Head, Scullers Head, Women's Head and Vesta Veterans' Head, and then at numersou regattas, both local and national.
The focus of the regatta season is on the National Veteran Championships and Henley Veteran Regatta - where in 2009 the squad won Women's Vet E doubles - and then the FISA World Masters Regatta at the end of the summer.
