Women's Squad

The TSS Women's Squad is a small but thriving group, fielding successful athletes at all levels of competition, from medals at Women's Henley and National Championships to numerous successes on the local regatta circuit.

The aim of the squad is to allow each athlete to achieve the most they can within the sport, without losing sight of the fact that we are out on the water to enjoy it.

Training

A training programme is issued every month. Sessions are organised with a reasonable degree of flexibility so squad members can fit in other commitments and still meet realistic training targets of eight to ten sessions per week.

Land training is organised for weekday evenings and comprises weights, circuits, ergs, Rowperfects and cross training. Water outings are on Monday and Wednesday early mornings, as well as double outings on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The squad also make regular trips to Dorney Lake to use the 2k course for time trials. The club holds two training camps - at Christmas and Easter - which all are encouraged to attend.

Races

The Women's Squad competes at regattas and head races all year round. We mainly race in sculling boats but put out sweep crews as well, not least for the Women's Head.

In the 2008-09 season, the Women's Squad recorded sucess at all levels, in both senior and veteran events. In the head season, athletes won at all of the tideway heads, culminating in the club pennant at the Women's Head.

Over the summer, the Women's squad raced at numerous local and national regattas, including composite wins at Henley Women's Regatta and Nat Champs.
